SHARE the hope & love the world needs so desperately – Dare to Share!
Dare to Share
If someone were drowning and you had a life-preserver in your hands, would you throw it to them? This is what it’s like to share your faith with someone who is struggling. It doesn’t matter what the struggle is – addiction, marriage, finances, health, you name it. People who do not know the love and hope of Jesus are being tossed about in a sea of fear and anxiety. Whether they are someone close to you, or even a stranger, you can change the direction of people’s lives.
Sharing is for Bible Thumpers or Professionals
Isn’t sharing faith just for the bible thumpers and professionals – the trained ministers, priests, rabbis, etc…? Besides, who am I to “preach” to others? I am no expert, and I’m certainly not a perfect person.
News Flash – you don’t have to be either! I once heard someone describe sharing the hope of the Gospel this way. You don’t have to be the lawyer, just be the witness. What does that mean? It means you don’t have to be the expert, able to quote chapter and verse from the bible. Just share your own story. If your faith has helped you through difficult times in life, let others know that. Don’t we all relate to stories, especially when people are willing to open up and be vulnerable? In reality, sharing faith is about being grateful for what sustains your own life. So grateful, your heart breaks for those that are trying to do life without Jesus.
Don’t live your life in fear of what others might think if you share your faith. Worry about what God thinks!
Timeless & Uplifting
There’s nothing like an incurable disease to really change your priorities. Since my husband’s ALS diagnosis 4 years ago, I have come to some important realizations. Cultivating a daily habit of leaning into the Lord for solace, courage and guidance is always the best plan. No matter what’s happening in your life – prosperity or financial trouble, welcoming new life or saying final farewells, chasing dreams, or failing big time. You need the love and mercy that only Jesus can provide. This is a timeless, eternal truth.
Here’s the other perk of daring to share your faith. You get uplifted in the process. There are two reasons for this. One, is because you have to fill yourself with the Good News of Christ in order to share with others. This is your foundation and motivation. Then, as you shine the light of Christ into someone else’s darkness, you too are uplifted. Just like when you do any good deed for someone, it just feels good.
Don’t be like a lake, be like a river and let God’s love flow through you. Dare to Share!
