DoubleTree Signature Cookies take chocolate chip cookies to a whole new level.
Does the world really need another chocolate chip cookie recipe? Yes! Especially this version that’s chock full of chocolate chips and walnuts. Never a disappointing bite! I love the small amount of oatmeal which provides heartiness without making them seem like an oatmeal cookie. A dash of cinnamon also adds a little more flair to this winning recipe.
It Was the Cookie’s Fault!
These DoubleTree Signature Cookies are the reason I was locked out of my hotel room in my pajamas years ago. After a long business travel day I checked into a DoubleTree hotel, bushed and ready to unwind. Upon check-in, I was presented with two of these delicious cookies, as warm and wonderful as a hug from a good friend.
Sliding into my PJ’s, I ordered up some room service for dinner a few hours later. Realizing I didn’t have much of an appetite (can’t imagine why) I decided to stash my leftovers in the hallway. Stepping out of my room, I watched in horror as the door slid shut. Thankfully I avoided a trip to the front desk in my PJ’s by asking another guest to call down and have a key delivered.
As I waited, backed as far as possible into the inset doorway, another guest passed by. With much chagrin, I briefly explained my situation. Being a glass half full sort of person, this guest smiled and said, “at least you have nice pajamas!”
Freezing DoubleTree Signature Cookie Dough
You can freeze the formed cookies and pop them in the oven whenever the mood strikes. There’s no need to thaw the cookies since they bake at a low 300 degrees for 20-23 minutes.
Curious About the Lemon Juice?
Me too! I scanned a few other recipes to figure out why there’s 1/4 teaspoon of lemon juice in this recipe. Another blogger said it produced a chewier texture. Recipes that come from commercial kitchens, like this one, are scaled down for home cooks. That means Doubletree’s large batch version has a more meaningful amount of lemon juice. I included the tiny amount called for in this recipe (which doesn’t add any lemon flavor) because it was my first time making them. I will try it without the lemon juice next time (and there will be many next times for this recipe.) If I can detect a difference, I will let you know!

So glad you liked them. Come to think of it, I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t like them! 😉 Totally agree on freezing some to keep from eating a whole batch!

Really loved these cookies. Now I just have to decide which chocolate chip cookie recipe I want the next time I feel the need. I also froze the left overs in groups of 4. I like them fresh from the oven (or close to it) and don’t need to eat the whole recipe in just a day or two! Thanks for this new chocolate chip recipe. Good story too!!
