Encourage Each Other

five ladies from a bible study group dining at supper club

I recently spent the weekend at my cabin with a few of my dear girlfriends.  As a project to encourage others, we sat down with notepads to make a list of the people in our lives that could use some encouragement. Then we used blank cards to write messages of encouragement, hope and love to these people. A simple thing, yes. But an uplifting message, received at just the right time, can make all the difference in the world.

There are times when it’s hard to know what to say to lift someone up. Finding the right words that can cut beyond the standard – I am thinking about you and praying for you, etc… A great thing to do when this happens, is to turn to God’s words of encouragement, found in the bible. We had a list of verses to reference as part of our encouragement project. Here are just a few:

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” – Mark 10:2

“For I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:1

Encourage Via Snail Mail – Really?

A hand written note may seem “old school” to many people, but I’m actually an old school girl. I believe people feel special when a hand addressed envelope shows up in their mailbox. But it doesn’t have to be a card sent via the U.S. Postal service. It can be a call, an email, or a text. The way you reach someone doesn’t matter. It’s that you took the time to think about them and reach out.

The really amazing thing about words of encouragement, is that they are absolutely free! Bottom line – be generous with your words to lift up others. If this Thyme4Faith message encouraged you, spread the love and share it with others!

I was at a mini seminar at work about stress balance in life and one of the questions we were asked was, what would you like people to remember about you? I was thinking that I was a giving loving person, but when they called on my coworker and he stated that to encourage others was the most important thing to him, that really stuck with me.I love when God gives you the same message multiple times, Be an encourager,Be an encourager. Thanks for the reminder Cathy!
