Greater Than The World

Bible verse 1 John 4:4

Greater Than The World shifts the focus from chaos & fear to the Spirit of God living in us. A Spirit of unlimited resources fueling our light to the world.

Just like everyone else, I’m trying to find my way through this new world. Should I go to a restaurant? What about having people over? Is the grocery store a safe place? How much toilet paper do I really need?! Then I consider my hubby’s restricted lung capacity caused by ALS. It would be terrifying for him to get a respiratory-based illness like COVID-19.

This unprecedented time spikes our fear and leaves us in a swirl of unknowns. But here’s what we do know. COVID-19 may be new, but fear and uncertainty are not. People have faced dire circumstances throughout time. God knew these circumstance WOULD be part of the human experience. For this reason, He put His Spirit in those that believe in Him. God’s Spirit, who is greater than the world, is living inside of us!

As amazing as this truth is, its meaning can quickly fade into the background. Especially if we’ve never examined how it should impact our daily thoughts and actions. But that’s exactly what we should be doing in times like these. Tapping into God’s Spirit. Just stop and absorb this – THE ONE WHO DEFEATED DEATH IS LIVING INSIDE OF US.

Bible verse Ephesians 3:16

This changes everything. Even if we don’t have the answers or the means to solve everything we face. Whether it’s plummeting stock markets, disrupted work, school and social environments, or concern for the safety of our loved ones. We stop striving in our own power and tap into the unlimited resources provided by God.

Now What?

We pause.

Breathe in His Spirit.

Pray for His discernment and strength.

Listen and humbly obey what He reveals to our hearts.

When we do this, we put God in control, where He’s always been. We become filled with His light. A light which shines all the brighter in the surrounding darkness of COVID-19. There is something greater than these worldly concerns we all share. It’s you, powered by Jesus, our Risen Savior. Show the world what He looks like. Shine light into the corner of the world where you have been placed by God.

Bible verse Matthew 5:14

Jesus, we need to feel your Spirit living inside of us more than ever. Help us be still in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. We humbly lay our concerns and fears at your feet. We cease striving in our own power and tap into Your power which has already defeated death. Fill us with your unlimited resources so we can shine brightly to the world around us.

Peace is exactly what Jesus wants us to feel when we tap into Him. But if you’re like me, a constant reminder is required!
