Greatest Gift For All – Thyme4Faith

December 23, 2016 by cathyscooking@gmail.com 5 Comments

Christmas ornament in a tree with a reflection of 3 crosses and the words Once upon a time, there was one light that out shined them all and it too hung on a tree to give the greatest gift for all.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given… the Greatest Gift for All – Jesus

Greatest Gift For All

In our final frenzy of Christmas preparations and merry making, let’s take time to pause and reflect. Personally I call this going from Martha to Mary mode. This means switching from the things that keep us busy, to a focus on what’s most important. The birth of Jesus, the greatest gift ever. A gift that was given for all.

How do you wrap your mind around the gift of Jesus? Well, how would you feel if someone stepped in front of a speeding bus for you? What if that person didn’t even know you, but he did it any way? What if that one selfless act could also magically save everyone? Everyone who ever lived, or who would ever live? Wouldn’t that blow your mind? That’s a very simplified way of describing what Jesus did for all.

A Lifelong Gift

Yet this gift is about more than what happens at the end. That’s because Jesus was more that just a historical figure. He is Immanuel (which means God with us.) Most people understand that Jesus came to earth as a baby. Then He ultimately gave His life on the cross to cover our sins. Yet, there’s more to the story! Because God knew we needed more than our own power, He also gifted us with His Spirit. By putting your trust in Him, you will find strength for all that life brings. The gift of God’s Spirit provides a deep well of peace, hope and love that makes life worth living, no matter what your circumstances.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6

Merry Christmas and God’s blessing to you all!
