How to Take Hold of Life

How to Take Hold of Life is tied to what makes your heart beat faster.

Take Hold of Life

Just recently it dropped on me like a bomb. Why would anyone want to go through life playing it safe and holding back? What do we gain at the end of that race? Safety? Mediocre dreams? I recognize that life naturally has ups and down. Yet, we don’t have to let that define us. You see, God has given us free will. We get to decide how much to risk, how deep to invest, what goals to pursue.

Not only do we have free will, we’ve each been given unique talents as well. You may be fortunate enough to understand your God-given talents. But many people don’t understand how God has uniquely wired them. That’s because they’re so busy juggling their lives. More importantly, they don’t know what to do with those talents.

Think about it. What makes your heart beat quicker? In other words, what brings you joy and seems almost effortless? Others comment on how gifted you are in this particular area. Take hold of life by leveraging this talent to bless others.

How Taking Hold Looks in My Life

Initially it was my love of food that led me to start ItsThyme2Cook. Yet it was writing my Thyme4Faith messages that lit a spark in my soul. When I tune into what God has placed in my heart, I know this is how I am supposed to serve others. In fact, I have decided to take hold of my life by attending a Christian Writer’s Conference. Very excited, terrified and hopeful about where this may lead.

Remember, you are not just the sum of your current circumstances. You have unique gifts and talents to serve a divine purpose. Look at God’s earliest followers. He used fishermen, a physician, and a tax collector to bring the Good News to the far corners of the world.

That’s not to say that everyone needs to be a missionary to serve God. Serving others can take many forms. It will most likely evolve over the seasons of your life as well. But make no mistake. You are God’s workmanship and masterpiece. He has a purpose for His creation and knows that you can do amazing things in His name.

Going Deeper

My wonderful faith home, Hosanna, recently did a sermon series called Living Bold. Here’s what you can expect from this series: “We all experience hunger to live big lives filled with passion and purpose. Living BOLD means choosing to take one risk at a time, one day at a time. But how do we make that happen? Come experience the journey towards a more brave and bold life.”

Holy Spirit, stir within our hearts a fresh understanding of the unique talents we’ve been given. Fill us with the courage to take hold of our life and run toward our divine purpose. Let us serve others by sharing hope and showing them what it means to be loved by our Heavenly Father. Amen.
