When Life Hits You With Both Barrels
It’s been 2 weeks since a series of crises ripped through the world of a friend and my family. The sudden death of my friend’s 19-year-old son. A serious snowmobile accident that left my grandson Cole with broken bones, a torn spleen and bruised organs. A car/deer collision as my son-in-law Brad drove home from snowmobiling. Did I mention that all 3 of these things happened on the same night? All within a few hours. My first reaction was despair. How can all of these things be happening? Then I realized that there was only one place to turn when Life Hits You With Both Barrels.
Psalms 34:17-18 – The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Over the hours and days to follow, I leaned into these promises. Both to combat my own fears and to offer strength and comfort to those suffering around me. While its human nature to have questions when tragedy hits, life rarely supplies sufficient answers. Actually its times like these that make us realize how fragile and precious life really is. It also drives home the fact that we are not in control. But do not lose hope, because we can trust the One who is in control.
Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Miracles Still Abound
There were also a few miracles woven into my grandson’s story. God put a snowmobile party directly behind my daughter Jessica and Cole which included 2 nurses and an anesthesiologist. This team sprang into action, closed off the trail and tended to Cole. Someone from this party also remembered seeing the DNR only 1 mile down the trail and went for help. The DNR was then able to quickly get Jessica and Cole off the trail and on their way to the hospital. Thankfully, the Hayward hospital also made the right decision to airlift Cole into HCMC in Minneapolis. A place much better equipped to care for him. There is no question that God’s hand was over these details.
Still Healing in Body & Spirit
It will take much time for both of these families to heal. My friend’s family is finding their way through their grief with support from God and all who love them. Cole is now home from the hospital and working on his long road to recovery. Thank you for your prayers and to all who have reached out to help these families. My prayer is that this Thyme4Faith story reminds you that no matter what life brings, God can carry you, if you put your faith and trust in Him.

Such a great, great reminder to count our blessings and trust in God who seems to test our faith on a regular basis, but sometime to the extreme! Keep the faith! What would we do without it?!

This post is close to my heart. I definitely needed to hear this today. Today Brad’s car broke down and we are forced to rent yet another car. Both of our cars are out of service at the moment, we are both driving loners. Both Brad and I feel like we’ve been knocked off are feet lately. Thanks for reminding me to find my rest in God, i know that he will help me when I ask for it.
GOD HELP US!

So glad God planted the idea for this post because it sure sounds like you need Him more than ever! Praying that all gets straightened out with the cars and that God’s hand is over all of the other things going on in your busy life right now.
