Love is Born
Life has finally started to settle back into a normal rhythm after all of our many changes this year. Move completed, boxes unpacked, mini van purchased, Mini Cooper sold, wheelchair and ramp in place. Finally there’s time to breathe and reflect. But in all honesty, as we rolled into December, I wasn’t in the mood for Christmas. It sounded like too much work. Then my daily devotional turned toward the message of advent, the waiting period leading up to Christmas. A time when we prepare our hearts for the birth of Christ.
This is how God showed his love among us:He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. – 1 John 4:9
As I switched from thinking about the busyness of the season, to the significance of Jesus’ birth, my heart started to change. Christmas isn’t just a season for the masses. It’s a very personal gift of love from God. From the beginning, God knew that we needed a role model. Someone who could show us how to love and serve all, even our enemies. God also knew we needed a Savior, because no matter how hard we try, we can’t do this thing called life without His help. So Jesus came to earth as an infant, and through God’s great design – Love is Born!
No matter where life finds you at this moment, this personal gift of love is for you. Whether you are filled with joy and contentment, or weary, struggling and discouraged. Jesus came to earth as the ultimate act of love to show you how much you mean to God. He sees you, He knows what you are going through and He loves you so much. In fact, He sent His Son to bring you back to Him.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. – James 1:17
