What’s the best thing about the end of a long road trip? A refreshing concoction called a Route 66 cocktail!
Route 66 – a Road Trip of a Lifetime
In the summer of 2015 my hubby and I embarked on the road trip of a lifetime. A cross-country trek on historic Route 66 from the Midwest to the Santa Monica pier, where the trails officially ends. We saw everything from kitschy roadside attractions to nostalgic neon-lit towns like Tucumcari, NM to the sunny Santa Monica pier at the end of the trail. Here’s just a sampling of memories from our great adventure.
When we returned from our Route 66 road trip we commemorated our adventure with a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives-themed Gourmet Group gathering. The menu included Pork Chops Smothered in Sweet Onion Gravy, Bacon Corn Crackle and Apple Pecan Carrot Cake.
This refreshing Route 66 Cocktail kicked off the evening with the Smoked Trout Spread and Crispy Cracker Bread appetizer. Enjoy this tasty cocktail and the full meal of delicious recipes featured at our Triple D diner party.
