Thanksgiving recipe ideas like Celebration Brussels Sprouts, Turkey with Port Wine Gravy and more!
Thanksgiving Recipe Ideas
Holiday meals are typically about tradition. We gather with the same friends and family (even the ones that make us a little crazy) and reach for our favorite recipes. At my house, that includes Turkey with Port Wine Gravy, Artichoke, Parmesan and Sausage Stuffing and Pumpkin Delight. While making familiar favorites are always a great idea, it’s also fun to try something new.
This year, instead of our traditional pumpkin dessert, we went with chocolate birthday cake. We were celebrating my grandson, Cole’s, 14th birthday and that was his dessert of choice. His other menu request was mashed potatoes and gravy. Well, mashed potatoes and gravy goes quite nicely with Turkey, I thought. That gave me the perfect excuse for combining his birthday celebration with an early Thanksgiving dinner.
Celebration Brussels Sprouts
I also decided to branch out this year in the veggie category with Celebration Brussels Sprouts. Not sure why there’s always an abundance of Brussels sprouts recipes at Thanksgiving, but that does seem to be the case. I spotted this one in a magazine a few weeks back and decided to give it a try. Brussels sprouts are not everyone’s favorite, but these are thinly sliced and combined with lots of yummy things. Smokey bacon, sweet chopped apples and dried cranberries, cider vinegar, maple syrup and crunchy pecans. The other great thing about this dish is that it cooks in the crock pot. That means one less thing to fuss over at the last minute. Enjoy this recipe for Celebration Brussels Sprouts as well as other delicious Thanksgiving recipes below.

- 1/3 c. cider vinegar
- 1/4 c. maple syrup
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 3/4 c. toasted chopped pecans
Instructions
- Combine Brussels sprouts, apples, cranberries and 1/4 c. bacon in a large bowl.
- In a small bowl whisk vinegar, syrup, oil, salt and pepper; pour over Brussels sprout mixture, tossing to combine.
